About This Treatment
This session took place at lull. in Harajuku. The nail artist in charge was Nami. The menu was our Magnet design, applied directly onto natural nails with no prior gel to remove. The guest was visiting from the United States.
Design Points
A muted olive green covers the set, finished with cat eye gel so a single bright line runs down the middle of each nail. The green is on the grey side rather than vivid, which keeps the metallic band from looking harsh against it.
Cat eye is a good place to start for anyone new to magnetic gel. There is no art to maintain as the nail grows out, and the effect is strong enough on short nails that no added length is needed. This was our guest’s first time trying it.
The Visit
Our guest came in from New York. This was her first time trying a cat-eye magnet design. She looked genuinely delighted watching the light-line appear in the gel.
Care and Style Notes
Magnet gel wears much like standard gel nails, with a typical hold of around three to four weeks depending on nail growth and daily habits. A few simple things help keep it looking sharp: wear gloves for dishwashing and cleaning, apply cuticle oil regularly, and avoid using your nails as tools. The cat-eye line is set once the gel cures, so the shimmer holds well over time. This style suits anyone who wants a single-color look with more depth and motion than a flat finish, and it works nicely on bare nails for a low-maintenance yet eye-catching result.
A Note from the Nail Artist
Watching the magnet pull the shimmer into a single bright line is one of the more fun moments to share with a first-timer. The angle of the magnet decides where the light sits, so I placed it to run the glow across the center of each nail. On natural nails the effect reads clean and understated, which fit the mood of the day well.
