Cherry Blossom Branches over Silver Glitter Tips | Gradient Nail Art in Tokyo

About This Treatment

This session was built entirely on natural nails, with extensions added across all ten fingers.

Design Points

A silver glitter is faded up from the tip of each nail, densest at the edge and thinning out towards the middle. Cherry blossom branches are painted over the top in fine dark brown line work, with small pink flowers clustered along them.

The branches cross the boundary between the glitter and the bare nail rather than staying inside one area, which links the two halves of the design. The base is left sheer so the silver reads as the only strong element besides the line work.

Visit Story

This guest traveled from California and stopped by during her trip through Tokyo. She came in with a clear idea: keep the mug-style gradient as the foundation, but shift the tones to match a French photo she had saved. We adjusted the color mix together until it landed on the shade she was after.

Tokyo isn’t the last stop on her trip. Seoul is next, and Shin Ramyun came up as a favorite along the way. She left looking happy with the finished set.

Care & Style Notes

Extensions like the ten tips used here typically hold for around three to four weeks, depending on nail growth and daily habits. To keep them looking clean, avoid using nails as tools, apply cuticle oil regularly, and wear gloves for tasks that involve a lot of water or cleaning products.

A blended gradient finish like this is a good fit for anyone who wants something softer than a hard-edged French. Because the color shift is gradual, regrowth tends to look less obvious over time, which makes it a practical choice for travelers who won’t be back for a fill soon.

A Note from Mami

Reworking a gradient to match a specific reference photo is one of my favorite kinds of requests. Instead of following a set color chart, we mixed shades on the spot until the tones matched what she pictured. Getting that soft French tone right across all ten extensions took a bit of back-and-forth, and it was fun to land on it together.
