About This Treatment
The menu for this visit was Full Design Custom, with a fill-in for the removal and rebalance step. The nail artist in charge was Mami. The guest travelled from Colombia and visited our Harajuku studio, where the consultation was carried out in English.
Design Highlights
The palette leans into deep maple reds, amber browns and warm ochre tones, layered so that no two nails read exactly the same. Rather than repeating one flat colour across all ten, Mami varied the depth from nail to nail — some tips carry a denser, darker red, others stay translucent so the warmth sits closer to the surface. The foliage motif is suggested through soft-edged colour blending instead of hard outlines, which keeps the overall look wearable rather than costume-like. The finish sits close to the natural nail line, so the shape stays compact and the colour does the talking.
The Story Behind the Visit
The request was open: autumn leaves, autumn colours, and freedom to build the palette from there. That kind of brief lets the artist work from a mood rather than a reference image, and the shades were chosen on the spot while talking through what felt right. When the design was finished, the guest looked genuinely pleased with how the colours turned out.
Care and Styling Notes
A fill-in is a maintenance method where the grown-out area is refilled while sound base gel is left in place, instead of stripping everything back to bare nail each time. Because the surface is filed rather than fully removed, there is less repeated stress on the nail plate — a good option if you get gel done regularly.
The usual interval is around three to four weeks, depending on how fast your nails grow. To get the most out of it, apply cuticle oil once or twice a day, dry your hands properly after washing, and use gloves for cleaning or dishwashing. Avoid using your nails as tools to open things; most lifting starts at a stressed edge.
Autumn shades like these suit anyone who wants colour without anything loud. Deep reds and browns tend to flatter a wide range of skin tones and photograph well in natural light, which makes them easy to live with on a trip where your hands end up in a lot of pictures.
A Note from Mami
Being handed the colour choice is a nice kind of pressure. With autumn tones, the risk is everything turning muddy, so I kept one or two nails lighter to give the hand somewhere to breathe. Blending was done in thin layers — building the red gradually gives it more depth than mixing the shade all at once. If you come in with a season or a feeling rather than a fixed picture, that works well here; we can decide together at the table.
