About This Treatment
This was a Full Design Custom set done by our nail artist Nami. The client came in from the United States and chose a fill-in for the removal and re-application, keeping her natural nail length rather than adding extensions.
A fill-in works with the gel already grown out on the nail, refreshing the base without a full soak-off each time.
Design Points
The set was built as a full custom design, shaped around what suited the client’s own nails. Because it was done as a fill-in, the focus stayed on a clean, even surface and a smooth transition at the cuticle area. The result is a set that sits close to the natural nail and looks intentional rather than heavy.
A Note From the Visit
The client visited Harajuku during her honeymoon in Japan. She works as an elementary school teacher back home in the United States, so a relaxed salon visit made a nice pause in a busy trip.
A small detail she seemed to appreciate: the water we served. It’s a simple thing, but she looked genuinely happy about it, and that easy, cheerful mood carried through the whole appointment.
Care and Style Notes
A fill-in is a good option if you want to maintain gel over several visits without removing the whole set each time. It reduces stress on the natural nail compared to repeated full removals, and it keeps the base tidy as the nail grows out.
For a custom set like this, gel typically holds well for around three to four weeks, depending on your nail growth and daily habits. Applying cuticle oil regularly helps keep the surface flexible and the edges looking neat. This approach suits people who prefer an ongoing, well-kept look over frequent complete changes — including travelers who want something that lasts through the rest of their trip.
