About This Treatment
This session took place with nail artist Nami. The chosen menu was Full Design Light, which included removal of the previous soft gel and a fresh set. Our guest was visiting from the United States. No charms, stones, stickers, or extensions were added this time.
Design Points
Deep navy and a warm greige alternate across the set. The navy nails carry iridescent shell flakes embedded in the surface, catching green and orange against the dark base, while the greige nails have a fine silver glitter worked along the cuticle line.
Setting a dark colour beside a neutral one is what gives this set its contrast — there is no pattern anywhere. On short nails, the flakes read as texture rather than as a distinct motif.
A Note on the Visit
Our guest is an American friend currently living in Japan, and she came in through a personal connection. She’s studying to become a veterinarian at university. The conversation flowed easily throughout the appointment, and she left looking genuinely pleased with the results.
Care and Style Tips
A soft gel set like this generally holds up well for around three to four weeks, depending on how quickly your nails grow and how you use your hands day to day. To keep the finish looking fresh, dab on cuticle oil regularly and wear gloves for tasks like dishwashing. When it’s time for a change, we recommend a proper salon removal rather than peeling the gel off, which can thin the natural nail. Full Design Light suits anyone who wants a clean, finished look without bulk or extra elements—handy for busy schedules or those who work with their hands.
A Word from Nami
Sessions like this one are a nice reminder that a simple set can feel special. She was easy to talk with, and we chatted throughout the appointment. On the technical side, a bare, embellishment-free design leaves nowhere to hide, so getting the shape and the surface just right is where the attention goes.
