About This Treatment
This visit was an Accent Design set (up to 6 nails), created by our nail artist Mami. The existing gel was maintained using the fill-in method rather than a full removal, so the base stayed intact while the design was refreshed. Our guest was visiting from the United States.
Design Points
Accent nail styling puts the focus on a select few fingers rather than treating every nail the same way. That leaves room to combine a clean, simple look on most nails with a couple of standout points. The fill-in approach also lets us keep the surface smooth and even, building on the previous set instead of starting from zero. The result is a balanced finish that feels finished but not overloaded.

A Note From the Visit
Our guest was about to start a cruise around Japan, setting off this week to see different parts of the country by ship. The conversation drifted happily toward Disney, and we ended up swapping favorites for a good while. Since she was curious about local treats, Mami passed along a few recommendations for Japanese convenience-store sweets worth trying between stops. She seemed genuinely pleased to have some new things to look for on the trip.
Care and Style Tips
The fill-in method is a good option if you want to extend the life of a gel set without removing everything each time. Because the base is kept and only the grown-out area is refilled, it puts less stress on the natural nail over repeated visits. Accent designs tend to suit people who like a mostly understated look with one or two nails doing the talking — practical for travel, since the simpler nails stay easy to live with. As a general guide, gel worn this way holds well for around three to four weeks, depending on how your nails grow and how you use your hands day to day. A little cuticle oil now and then helps keep the edges looking fresh.
Comment From Your Nail Artist (Mami)
Talking through cruise plans and comparing Disney notes made this a fun appointment for me. It’s always nice when a set gets to travel — these nails are heading out to sea for a tour around Japan. I hope the convenience-store snack list comes in handy at the next port.
