About This Treatment
This session took place with Nami as the nail artist in charge. The guest chose our Accent Design menu (up to 6 nails), which included the removal of soft gel before applying the new design. She was visiting from Italy, where she currently studies at university.
Design Points
A deep espresso brown covers the set, finished with cat eye gel so a band of light runs down each nail. The brown is warm rather than grey, dark enough to read almost black in low light.
Small silver charms are attached to three nails — a ring and two small pendant shapes — set flat against the surface rather than standing proud. Keeping the metal to a few nails means it registers as an accent against a colour this dark.
A Note From the Visit
The guest studies at a university in Italy and stopped by during her time in Japan. She had a composed, cool presence at first, and conversation flowed easily once we got started. By the end, she looked genuinely pleased with how her nails turned out.
Care Tips and Who This Style Suits
Accent designs pair well with anyone who wants a manicure that feels polished without being loud. Because the decoration is concentrated on a few nails, chips or wear on the plain nails tend to be less noticeable, which can be practical for travel.
To help soft gel last, apply cuticle oil daily and avoid using your nails as tools. With normal care, gel typically holds well for around three to four weeks before a fill or removal is recommended. When it’s time to change the design, have it professionally removed rather than peeling it off, which protects the natural nail surface.

Accent work is one of my favorite ways to design because small choices matter so much — which nails carry the artwork, and how the plain nails frame them. It was a pleasure to work with someone who had a clear, calm sense of style. Fitting a fresh set into a trip abroad is a nice detail, and I hope it stays with her as a small memory of Tokyo.
