About This Treatment
This nail session took place with Mami as the nail artist. The menu was an Accent Design of up to six nails, applied on natural nails without any removal or replacement of previous work. Our guest was visiting from the United States.
Design Points
A strong cobalt blue covers every nail. Gold eight-point stars are drawn over the top, one or two per nail, with a smaller star and a fine crescent added beside some of them. One nail carries a star in orange rather than gold.
The blue is opaque and glossy, with no shimmer worked into it, so the gold line work sits cleanly on the surface. On short nails a single strong colour with small metallic detail reads better than a pattern would.
The Visit
Our guest came in with a close friend of thirteen years. The two live about a five-hour drive apart, so getting to spend time together in Tokyo made the visit feel special. Their travel plans differed slightly, with one staying for two weeks and the other for one. Among the highlights of the trip so far, the sushi stood out as a favorite. She left the salon looking genuinely happy with the result.
Care and Style Notes
Accent designs are a good option for anyone who wants a bit of detail without committing every nail to the same pattern. Since only a few nails carry the design, touch-ups and future changes tend to be simpler. To help the finish last, a few basics go a long way: apply cuticle oil regularly, wear gloves for dishwashing and cleaning, and avoid using your nails as tools. Work applied on natural nails suits people who prefer a lightweight feel and want to keep their own nails as the base. With everyday care, this kind of design holds up well through a trip and beyond.
A Note from the Artist
Having two friends travel from so far and reunite here in Tokyo made the appointment a memorable one for me. Working on an accent design lets me put focus into a few nails while keeping the rest simple, which is a nice balance to create. It was a pleasure to send her off ready to enjoy the rest of her time in Japan.
