About This Treatment
This set was created by our nailist Mami at lull. in Harajuku. The client, visiting from the United States, chose our Full Design Custom menu. The previous gel was removed and replaced using the fill-in method, which keeps the natural nail intact by refreshing only the grown-out area rather than filing everything off.
Design Points
The focus here was a glitter French tip. Instead of applying the glitter directly, Mami laid down a thin coat of soft white first, then placed the sparkle on top. This small extra step evens out the surface so the tip stays smooth and flat, rather than developing the slight bump that glitter Frenches can sometimes get near the edge. The result is a French line that catches light but still feels flush to the touch.

Behind the Visit
The client had a clear picture of the finish she wanted, and the smoothing technique under the glitter was the answer to that. When the set was done, she looked genuinely happy with how the tips turned out.
Care and Style Notes
A fill-in approach like this one is worth knowing about if you get gel regularly. Because only the regrowth area is worked on, the base layer stays put and the natural nail sees less filing over time, which is gentler with repeat visits. As a rough guide, gel done this way tends to hold well for around three to four weeks before the regrowth becomes noticeable.
Glitter tips are fairly low-maintenance day to day. If you want them to stay comfortable, a smooth base under the sparkle (as done here) is what stops the edge from snagging on hair or fabric. This style suits anyone who likes a classic French shape but wants a bit more shine than a plain white line.
A Word from Your Nailist, Mami
“The trick with a glitter French is the layer you don’t really see. Putting a light white down first gives the glitter something even to sit on, so the tip finishes flat instead of gritty. It’s a quiet detail, but it changes how the whole nail feels when you run your finger over it.”
