About This Treatment
This session took place with nail artist Nami in charge. The menu was a Magnet gel set, with the previous gel removed and refilled using the fill-in method. Our guest was visiting from Switzerland.
Design Points
A warm terracotta red covers all ten nails, finished with cat eye gel so a soft band of light runs down the centre of each one. The colour sits between brick and rose, warm enough to read as a neutral on the hand rather than as a statement red.
There is no art anywhere in this set. The whole effect comes from the magnetic band and how evenly it is drawn, which is why the placement of the line matters more here than in a design with pattern work.
A Note from the Visit
Our guest is in Japan as a language student, and this was her first time trying magnet nails. Watching the metallic pattern appear under the magnet was clearly a fun moment—she looked genuinely delighted with how it turned out.
Care Tips and Who It Suits
Magnet gel tends to hold its finish well, with color typically lasting around three to four weeks depending on nail growth and daily use. A few simple habits help it last: wear gloves for dishwashing, apply cuticle oil regularly to keep the surrounding skin healthy, and avoid using your nails as tools. Magnet designs suit people who like a subtle but eye-catching effect—the sheen reads as understated in dim light and bold in the sun, so it works for both everyday wear and special occasions. The fill-in method is a good choice for anyone who wants to maintain nail health over repeated visits rather than fully removing and reapplying each time.
Comment from Your Nail Artist (Nami)
Introducing someone to magnet gel for the first time is always enjoyable, because the effect really comes alive in the moment the magnet is applied. I focused on drawing the particles into a clean, flowing line so the shift in light would stay smooth across each nail. Seeing that first reaction made the session a memorable one.
