A Full Set of Ten Extensions Built from Bare Nails | Custom Gel Nail Art in Harajuku

About This Treatment

This set was created at lull. in Harajuku by nail artist Nami. The client, visiting from the United States, chose the Full Design Custom menu. She came in with bare natural nails, so no removal was needed, and extensions were applied to all ten fingers.

Design Highlights

Starting from bare nails means the shape and length of every nail are built from zero. Nami sculpted extensions on all ten fingers first, then matched the curve and the free-edge line finger to finger so the set reads as one piece rather than ten separate nails.

The Full Design Custom menu allows each nail to carry its own artwork, so the design was planned across the full set — thinking about how the hand looks when the fingers are spread, and how it looks when only a few nails are visible in a photo. Working on a fresh surface also keeps the gel application thin and even, which helps the finished surface stay flat and glossy.

Care and Style Notes

Extensions add length, so the way you use your hands matters more than with a natural-nail set. A few practical points:

  • Typical wear: around three to four weeks, depending on your nail growth and daily habits. Regrowth at the base is usually what makes a set look ready for a refill.
  • Daily care: cuticle oil once or twice a day keeps the skin around the nail flexible and reduces lifting at the edges.
  • Avoid: using nails as tools — opening cans, peeling stickers, prying lids. Side pressure is what breaks extensions, not length itself.
  • Removal: have them removed professionally rather than picking or peeling, which takes layers off the natural nail plate.

A full set of extensions suits anyone whose natural nails are short, soft, or uneven, and anyone who wants a specific length and shape that their own nails can’t reach right now. It’s also a good choice before a trip or an event, since you get the finished silhouette immediately instead of waiting months to grow it out.

A Note from Nami

Building ten extensions on completely bare nails is one of my favourite ways to start a session, because nothing limits the shape — I can decide the length and the curve from the first step instead of working around an existing set.

The part I spent the most time on here was symmetry between the two hands. Thumbs and index fingers catch the eye first, so I checked those from the front and from the side before moving on. When the set was finished and she looked at her hands, she was clearly delighted, which is the best signal that the length and shape landed where she wanted them.
